Dear all,
It has been a long while. This to inform you all that after a bit over 3 years, a wife and a baby further we (Sandra, Iker and Willem) have decided to move on. From January onwards we will be based for the first couple of months out of Senegal, after which we will be moving to Accra, Ghana. Mauritania has been a superb experience, but excited to take up a new challenge.
In the past 3 years I have to say there where some definite highlights as for example;
- Having some good business development and an excelling team.
- Meeting my wife in late 2009.
- getting married on the 28th of August 2010.
- Having the best country of the cluster for 2010.
- The birth of our son Iker on the 12th of August
- Leaving at the end of this year for the new challenges as Regional mining business development manager for Africa

Hey Willem,
Het is zeker een enerverende ervaring voor je geweest in de afgelopen drie jaar met voor mij toch wel de grootste verrassing je huwelijk en de geboorte van jullie zoon Iker. Ik hoop dat Accra je een mooie nieuwe uitdaging kan bieden in een toch wel wat veiligere omgeving. Uit de verhalen die ik heb gehoord van jou en Merel was Mauritanië niet altijd even veilig. Hoe gaat het met Sandra en Iker? Kan Sandra in Accra ook een toekomst opbouwen? In ieder geval heel veel succes, geluk en liefde gewenst.
